Bride Luci wearing her bespoke wedding dress
Our dear friends Luci and Josh recently tied the knot at the beautiful Berkhamsted Town Hall in Hertfordshire. The ceremony was intimate and heartfelt, with family and lots of friends in attendance to witness their union. One of the highlights of the day was undoubtedly the stunning wedding dress worn by our bride, Luci.
This was a particularly exciting wedding for me to attend as, not only was I seeing one of my closest friends get married, it was the first time I had attended a wedding where the bride was wearing a dress that I had designed.
I can't tell you how elated I was when Luci asked me to make her a bespoke wedding dress and that I was, in some small way, contributing towards Luci and Josh's special day.
Luci wanted something elegant and timeless, yet also unique and personal, so to start the process, Luci and I met at our bridal showroom in Putney.
She liked the wrap style dresses, with the open front at the legs offered by the Lizzy Wedding Dress...
...and the 3D lace and V-style open-back of the Kendal Wedding Dress...
I knew that I could design a new dress that would combine the two designs, and to add some extra "wow", I added a godet to the rear of the bottom of the dress.
A godet is a triangular piece of fabric that we can inserted to add fulness and flare so that when the bride is walking, it helps to extend the trail of the dress and provide more movement of the dress.
We use godets in a number of our dresses, and our Tabitha Wedding Dress is a good example where I designed a godet into the skirt section of the dress...
Having presented the design to Luci, she was so excited, so we got underway with making her one-of-a-kind gown that perfectly reflected Luci's taste and style.
The resulting dress was a breathtaking blend of classic and contemporary styles that combined beautiful, delicate lace sitting on our soft ivory crepe fabric, finished off with a silk tie for the waist and dainty, short flutter sleeves.
On her big day, Luci looked absolutely stunning and she received countless compliments from guests. The process of creating the dress with Luci was a memorable experience for me.
As Luci and Josh begin their journey as husband and wife, we wish them all the love and happiness in the world. Their love story is one for the ages and it was a honor to be a part of such a special day.
Here are the photos from Josh and Luci's wedding.
